Founder Joseph Chang of Fresh123 International Co., Ltd., originally worked in the information technology industry and served in multinational American companies for many years. Feeling that Taiwan's traditional culinary culture should be showcased to more people around the world, he decided to start a business with his wife. Starting from a small refrigerator in their living room and the night market snack, Yilan Sanxing green onion pancake, it began their journey, searching for local ingredients and flavors across Taiwan. They expanded into domestic and international markets under the brand Uncle Onion, establishing a presence in major supermarkets, convenience stores, and online retail platforms domestically over more than a decade. it have also exported their products to over ten countries.
Brand Story
Uncle Onion was founded in 2010, inspired by an encounter the founders had with an eighty-year-old onion farmer in Sanxing Township, Yilan, who had dedicated his life to nurturing the world-renowned Yilan Sanxing green onions. In tribute to his dedication, the founders decided to name their brand after him, using his nickname, Uncle Onion. Starting with Sanxing green onion pancakes, they ventured into the research,
production, and marketing of frozen foods. They developed popular online group-buying products such as the Basil Pancake, Green Onion Puff, Home Taste Dumplings, and Signature Xiaolongbao. After establishing a presence in the online market, they expanded into physical retail channels, with products available in over 5000 stores including RT-Mart, Carrefour, PX Mart, and 7-Eleven. Also, their products are exported to over ten countries and regions including the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Macau, making them one of the leading brands in Taiwan's frozen food industry.
